FAQ-
About the yarn/ How do I care for my yarn?
The yarn is dyed in my home studio- smoke free, pet free. I, Liz, do not work with a team and every yarn is fully processed and packaged by me, so I am confident they are done correctly and to my high standards. I use an excess dye removing, earth friendly soap designed for handdyed yarn firstly in my two-step washing process. This is also a quality check point to check for excess dye run off. After being sure the yarns are set properly and behave correctly when washing, I use an all-natural lanolin based wool conditioner. It is lightly scented with essential oils only. I have heard such wonderful things that this conditioner elevates the making process for my customers...the smell is light and reminiscent of a vintage bookstore, leather, and scotch. If there are any essential oil allergy concerns, please email me and I will be happy to skip this step for you and leave you a note in your order that this step was successfully skipped, for peace of mind. If choosing to skip the conditioning step, handdyed yarn can smell a bit sulfuric when freshly opened, or after being stored in an airtight container, but this smell dissipates rather quickly.
I recommend storing your yarn somewhere airtight while not in use regularly (I put mine in recycled plastic totes) to keep fuzz, dust, or critters out.
Washing- I always recommend handwashing using a mild wash, like wool wash, in cold water. Squeeze excess water out gently and lay flat to dry.
A small amount of bleeding may occur in the first few washes. Please understand I care deeply to give you yarns that bring you only happiness and excellent behavior, and I've been personally affected by a red yarn that was not set properly and ruined a colorwork sweater...I cried, really. Deep colors are exhausted until that water is absolutely clear, and all of my yarns are washed in an unscented wool wash made to pull excess dye after dyeing. I check for quality and bleeding here, in this extra step. Sometimes even with proper setting and rinsing, different water and its PH, different wool washes, or chemicals can lead to a small amount of bleeding. Please know, I will not send yarn out of this house that I am not confident in. If you feel like you are seeing excessive bleeding, please do not hesitate to contact me and include a photo so we can address the issue.
Do you offer an anti-fat tax policy?
Without hesitation! I am a firm believer that no one should have to pay a much larger cost or be barred from a product simply because they live in a bigger body. I understand it because it has affected me personally. All bodies are wonderful bodies. Please take 10% off of orders of 8+ skeins using the code provided in each listing. I am also fine with this code being used on 4/4 (or more) splits between two bases, since many people prefer to hold a laceweight fluff with a heavier weight yarn. This applies to any preordered yarn, if we are working on a custom order for you, I am happy to apply this discount manually.
Do you offer yarn support to designers and their testers?
Yes! Please read my "GIVING BACK+ETHICS" page, it's all there!
Do you offer wholesale?
Send me an email and let's chat!
